Diepix Heroes

"Controls are so fucking glitchy!"

submission: Diepix Heroes
date: December 13, 2009

This might be a fun game if I had control over which direction my character moved. But no, he keeps getting stuck going in one fucking direction. The gameplay is very fun, but the controls are just too fucking glitchy. I can't beat a single level because the damn thing keeps moving into a corner and everything that comes out from that corner blows up in my face instantly. Fix this problem!

"That was impressive"

submission: Gunny Bears

I really liked the way you animated the explosions. That was really creative. Heck, the whole thing was creative. Who'd have thought you could illustrate so many things with candy. The blood, the gunfire, the flames, the explosions, it was all brilliant. Oh, and I liked the ending.

You better have gotten 100% for this. Maybe even some bonus points just for its sheer awesomeness. Really creative, good animation, good use of music, and best use of the forth wall ever. This concept has such potential. And you have talent.

Action Teens: Episode 1

"Rather confusing"

date: November 24, 2009

It looks really good, but I just didn't get what was going on at all. There was something about a virus, then some guy killing another guy, then some chick with pink hair started acting demonic, then she exploded. Very confusing indeed. The guy needs to work on his voice acting a little, the girl was fine in that respect. Otherwise, this looks like a very promising series. 80 scenes in the next one? That's a lot. Maybe you should have put some of the next episode into this one. It might have made things a little less confusing. Oh well, it sounds like you have quite a lot in store for us, so I look forward to it.

Dragon Boy

"I enjoyed it, but it was quite glitchy."

submission: Dragon Boy
date: November 5, 2009

The main glitch caused the character to go in one direction indefinitely. It seems to happen at random when I press the directional buttons, and happens incredibly frequently even on low quality. The way I found to fix the glitch was to briefly tap the "stuck" button once or twice. I also found that multiple buttons could get stuck at once. If opposing directions got stuck at once, whichever got stuck last would be the way he went, and after that was unstuck, he'd go the other way. Please do something about this glitch. Having to spend five seconds to regain control of my character was very disadvantageous, needless to say, and it happened countless times on every level. Not once did I get through a level without the glitch happening at least once.

Another problem was the poor hit detection. Often I would swing and it was obvious that the enemy was hit, but nothing happened. You could see the weapon and the enemy touching but nothing was happening. My dragon had a similar problem. I don't know if it was hit detection or AI, but he would repeatedly lunge at an enemy and miss. Not until the enemy moved would he adjust his aim. This was when he was in the stage of growth that begins at 150hp.

I also find the game to be terribly unbalanced. Here I am soaring through the levels when all the sudden up comes the boss and he wastes me in a few seconds. All the other enemies were taking one hit to kill at this point. It took forever to kill the bastard because I would have to wait until he hit another character, thus getting frozen, then run in and get one or two hits, then run away. For some reason he could take me out in about five hits whereas the other two party members could withstand at least 10. And he seemed to have deceptive range. I was halfway across the screen from him and he still managed to hit me, killing me. In the next world, the enemies suddenly shot up in health to be as strong as the first world's minibosses. I tried upgrading my equipment. This takes forever as the currency system is horrible. You only get money from enemies if they visibly drop it and you manually pick it up. The weapons and armor they drop are usually worth 1-7 gold, with only one thing worth 15. When I go to the shop, I have to pay to get in, which is bullshit, and the inventory is random, which is also bullshit. Both of these aspects NEED to go. The items are way overpriced. Especially what I needed to get through the second world, which ranged from 100-300. The only way to get this stuff would be to play the levels in the first world that had tons of easy enemies, and collect the shit equipment they drop and sell it. Rinse and repeat about 5 times and you've got about 100 gold. You need about 800 to get all the best equipment at this point. I got as much of the best equipment as I had patience to earn, then proceeded to go through the levels relatively okay, until you start bringing out tons of revivers. You have to kill them first, but each one is as powerful as the Giant slime boss in the first world, if not stronger. They run twice as fast as you, take out a big chunk of health with each hit, and meanwhile you're being swarmed by about 8-10 soldiers that revive almost immediately if you kill them first. My only choice now was to level up repeatedly to get the spellcaster abilities up, but this would require copious amounts of time to fight the countless easy enemies in the Giant Slime boss stage. Between the boss and the little slimes, I got more exp than from area two levels. That's because the reward system is shit and gives you the same exp and shitty equipment for easy and hard enemies. Even the bosses give shitty stuff, though at least they give more exp. I hope that changes in the third area, but I won't know that till next time I play, since I'm out of patience for now.

I honestly have never had this much to complain about a flash game before. Still, the game was good enough that I want to come back and play it through to the end. I still have more to say, including the stuff I liked, but I'm out of characters now. :)

Making A Piranha Plant

"Great mama plant"

date: October 29, 2009

But baby piranha plants are white in color. That's my only complaint. They're called nipper plants at that age. They don't have a spot of red on them. Still, great job making a realistic looking piranha plant. It really looks like the video game is just a cartoon version of this, the real thing.

Super Mario bros Z ep.8

"Well fuck"

date: October 21, 2009

A cliffhanger like that, and I have to wait another year probably before I see how it ends, or at least a month. Damn it. I'm guessing Shadow saves them, though. Or Mario pulls out a 1-up mushroom. Or perhaps you have another twist in mind?

Still, epic reference to Hotel Mario there, I laughed my ass off. I like your created character, and your use of Mario powerups on Sonic. I'd love to see more of that. I think this pretty much tops all of your other episodes.

I hope you don't take a year this time to come out with a new episode, but if life is sapping your motivation, I understand. Shit happens, as they say. I'd hate to see this series end up like TTA, with the author discontinuing the series due to lack of motivation. Please don't end up like TTA. Or if you do, at least end at a better spot than this cliffhanger we're at now. At least TTA ended at the end of a season. I wonder if you even read these? Nah, probably not. You'd have to be really freakin dedicated to read thousands of reviews. Oh well. Keep it up, it's a really awesome series and I'd hate to see it die before it reaches a decent conclusion.
